In Places Hidden

In Places Hidden (Golden Gate Secrets) by Tracie Peterson is the first book in the Golden Gate Secrets series.

This book is set in early 1900s San Francisco, where Camriann has traveled to find her brother, Caleb, who went missing three months prior. She meets two other women, and they all end up rooming together and getting jobs at a chocolate factory. Camri's search for her brother leads her to witness the corruption of the city. She is helped by Patrick Murdock, whom Caleb had helped at one time.

Tracie Peterson's characters are well-written and multi-faceted. Camri is a strong female character whose independence and intelligence are refreshing.

There is mystery and suspense in this historical novel that keep the pages turning. Faith and prayer are interwoven naturally into the story. The way the story is written really drew me in and made me want more. I am looking forward to the next installment!

The publisher provided a review copy of In Places Hidden.
